My first earthquake!

This morning I wake up at 5:40 or so to find my bed swaying. What the (enter explicative here)?!?!?!? An earthquake. In northeastern Indiana. Okay, southern Illinois, but we could still feel it. Too weird.

Eye Doctor

Well, I went to the eye doctor yesterday. I can’t believe it’s been five years already since I’ve gone. I haven’t had any trouble seeing, so I just haven’t bothered. Now my glasses are trying to fall apart, though.

I went with my sister to get both appointments over with at the same time. Everything was great with me, I’ve settled into my prescription and am unlikely to change for some time. My sister, on the other hand, has gotten twice as bad (nowhere near mine, though), and it turns out she has almost no depth perception. :D

My histoplasmosis in my left eye is fine, as well. It’s pretty common in the midwest. 62% of the people here are carriers and don’t know it. It won’t likely affect them much, anyway. It’s caused by a fungus in the soil. When inhaled, you may get histoplasmosis. Pretty much, all it does is cause tiny areas of inflammation in the back of the eye. When these spots heal, they leave small scars. The inflammation is completely random and may settle down for years without another one occurring again. It’s no big deal, and will probably never actually affect me. The only problem would be if a scar would randomly develop in the very center of my retina (the macula) which could potentially cause permanent blindness. This condition is so exclusive to this area, it’s relatively unknown anywhere else. If I went to Europe to have my eyes checked, they’d probably freak out to see tiny little scars all over my retina.

I’m not sure how many scars I have, but I know it’s not really very many. The picture above shows what scarring would look like. They’re the black dots.

Graduation Announcements

Phew! Graduation announcements take some work! I’ve spent the last few hours on them, and I’m still not quite done. I’m really enjoying myself, though, which is odd. I never realized how many little things are involved. Put a name card in the announcement, place a senior pic behind the name card, place announcement face-up into inner envelope, write informal names on front, attach gold initial seal . . . . Then you still have to put it in the outer envelope, seal w/ class seal, add return address sticker, write formal address on front w/ everything written out, and then stamp it.

I guess I’ve always liked that sort of thing, since I’m just strange. The more obscure steps to take, the better. I suppose it’s just because I get bored when things too simple. I designed Thanksgiving dinner to be super-formal one time and had lots of fun. I was a bit put out later when not ONE person followed any rules. :P Eh, well.

Back to the grindstone

Well, that’s it. Spring Break’s over. Tomorrow I have to go back to reality and school. I’m really not looking forward to it. My sadistic teachers already have a barrage of assignments for us first thing. I know we have a timed AP test prep essay in English and a quiz in Government. I think we’re also having a review for a Calculus test on Tuesday.

59 days until I’m out forever.

Slytherclaw Rules!

It may be the strangest sounding hybrid Hogwarts house, but it’s definitely the best. ;) It also fits me to an absolute T. Knowledge AND power rules!

I do well in school, am impatient with blatent stupidity, dance around trouble will little effort, don’t like to get my own hands dirty, and tend to have a machiavellian train of thought. There’s really no other place for me. Hufflepuff makes me queasy and Gryffindors are loud and annoying. I also found some awesom icons I am loving right now. No idea who made them.

Done being a dork now.
